Jordan Shanks

Jordan Shanks (Tufnail) grew up in the Comox Valley in an active family. She excelled in athletics and pursed a Varsity Soccer career. After completing her Bachelors Degree in Sport, Health and Physical Education at Vancouver Island University she attended the University of British Columbia where she attained her Masters of Physical Therapy.

It was the combination of Jordan’s personal injury history, undergrad and job working as a personal trainer that led her down the Physical Therapist career path. It was athletics that began her career, now she treats people all across the spectrum, learning to walk again, learning to run pain free! post operative rehab, ergonomic injury, recovering from stroke or managing chronic illness, Jordan is here for all of it.

Shanks began working in private practice with the Joint Family and subsequently at Fresh Tracks. Here she experienced working with a wide variety of patient populations across all ages, including orthopedic, vestibular and neurological conditions. Being back in the Valley she noted that there was little private home physiotherapy options, and so she created Oakwood.

Jordan has furthered her education with Vestibular Rehab, Functional Dry Needling (FDN/IMS), Graston Technique Mulligans Methods, NeuroFit’s Changing Parkinson's courses and U of A’s Spinal Cord Injury Management Course.

Empathy, encouragement and expertise are the cornerstones of Jordan’s approach. Her passion for helping her patients achieve their goals and re-gain their confidence is what drives her practice.

Jordan loves where she lives, taking advantage of all the Valley and the Island have to offer in outdoor adventure with her family. Up the mountain, in the forest, or on the water, if it’s outside the chances are her family is participating!
